Legal Experience
Business Experience
Jenifer is an experienced business attorney who applies what she has learned through litigation to help her clients avoid ending up in court. She regularly provides advice and counseling relating to selection and organization of the business entity, governance and ongoing operations, purchase and sale of businesses, business exits, negotiating and drafting contracts of all types, including commercial leases, and resolution of problems and disputes. When business disputes arise, Jenifer works closely with her clients to resolve them through settlement or trial.
Estate Planning Experience
Jenifer is also an experienced estate planning attorney who assists individuals and families with putting together an estate plan that brings peace of mind and carries out their wishes. Jenifer handles simple will drafting, powers of attorney and advance directives (living wills), and she can also draft revocable trusts to protect assets and avoid probate. Jenifer is an ally and also focuses her estate planning practice on assisting LGBTQIA+ individuals and families with their estate plans, to ensure their wishes are honored regardless of unsupportive family members and/or changes in law.
Litigation Experience
Jenifer is an experienced and agile litigator, with experience handling cases across North Carolina. Jenifer began her legal career as a business litigator, handling complex and difficult disputes between businesses of all sizes. Jenifer transitioned her practice from a focus on complex business law to a more varied practice, which has allowed her to better serve her clients. Her litigation experience also includes commercial and residential construction matters, including complex construction defect claims, disputes among business partners, commercial lease disputes, and breach of contract disputes of all types. Because costs and outcomes are always uncertain in litigation, Jenifer believes she can best serve her clients by considering litigation an option of last resort. When litigation is necessary, she works tirelessly to help her clients receive the best outcome possible, whether by settlement or in a trial.
